West Ham got their business done at the right time before the Premier League made drastic changes and clubs voted in favour for a new limit of five-year contracts.
Chelsea caused controversy over the past year by signing players up to monstrous eight-year deals in an attempt to get around Financial Fair Play guidelines.
In fairness to Chelsea and more specifically their owner Todd Boehly, the move wasn’t against the rules, it was just bending them at the very worst really.
Hammers boss David Moyes followed the Chelsea blueprint recently when he signed Jarrod Bowen up to a new seven-year deal.
The 26-year-old is our most important player, there is no doubt about that, and having him signed up at the London Stadium until 2030 cannot be underestimated.
It seems like we got the deal done in the nick of time…

Going forward, Premier League clubs will not be able to sign new players on contracts longer than five years, nor will they be able to extend current players’ deals beyond that length of time (BBC).
Thankfully, we got Bowen tied down to a seven-year deal before the rules changed.
He has bagged a really impressive 10 goals and three assists in 19 games for West Ham so far this season (Transfermarkt).
The former Hull City ace is the Hammers’ most important player, and if we can show real ambition by keeping him at the club for the long-term, other top-class players will surely be keen to join us as well.
Bowen encompasses everything that being a West Ham player is all about, what with his hard work and 100% commitment to the cause.
Keeping him around for the next seven years would be a major coup for the Hammers.
And we should think ourselves really lucky that we managed to tie him down before the new Premier League five-year contracts rule.
