But Liverpool’s Salah looks the clear favourite thanks to the scintillating form which has seen him hailed the current best player on the planet.
Usually fans feel there is a bias towards the so-called “big clubs” when it comes to these awards.
But nobody will be able to argue should Salah pip Rice to the award.

Not bad company for West Ham’s midfield enforcer to be keeping, though, is it?
The two will come head to head on Sunday when the Hammers entertain Jurgen Klopp’s side at the London Stadium.
