Mo Salah set to spoil Declan Rice party after big announcement involving Liverpool and West Ham stars

Mo Salah looks set to spoil the Declan Rice party after a big announcement involving the Liverpool and West Ham United stars.

Rice has helped lead West Ham to five consecutive wins in all competitions.

The Hammers are fourth in the Premier League and can go second with a win over Liverpool on Sunday.

Tottenham stand in the way of West Ham making the Carabao Cup semi-finals after a famous win over Man City.

And one more win – possibly even just one more point – in the Europa League will see West Ham win Group H and secure a place in the last 16 in March.

David Moyes has done a remarkable job.

But the team is very much driven by talisman Rice who has been undeniably one of the best players in the Premier League over the last 18 months.

Rice has been nominated for the October award alongside the likes of Burnley’s Max Cornet, Southampton’s Tino Livramento, Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsdale, Chelsea’s Ben Chilwell, Man City star Phil Foden, Leicester’s Youri Tielemans and Liverpool superstar Mo Salah.

In another month West Ham’s main man Rice would be the hands down favourite to follow in teammate Michail Antonio’s footsteps after he won the award for August.

But Liverpool’s Salah looks the clear favourite thanks to the scintillating form which has seen him hailed the current best player on the planet.

Usually fans feel there is a bias towards the so-called “big clubs” when it comes to these awards.

But nobody will be able to argue should Salah pip Rice to the award.

Not bad company for West Ham’s midfield enforcer to be keeping, though, is it?

The two will come head to head on Sunday when the Hammers entertain Jurgen Klopp’s side at the London Stadium.
