Hammers boss David Moyes undoubtedly needs to sign a top-class striker this summer, with Michail Antonio, Gianluca Scamacca and Danny Ings all being linked with an exit.

Correio da Manha reckon that the Toon are ready to make an attempt to sign the forward and Benfica will start the bidding at around €80 million (£70 million).

Missing out on Ramos would be a huge blow for the Hammers. He’s a world-class striker in the making and would take us to another level entirely.

Ramos bagged 27 goals and 12 assists in 47 games for Benfica this season just gone (Transfermarkt).

He is quick along the ground, powerful, strong in the air and is a superb finisher, as well as being a willing runner.

The Sun have described the Benfica hitman as a ‘phenomenal’ striker, and they’re bang on money – he really is an elite player. His movement is terrific and he possesses an impressive work-rate as well.

For someone so young, Goncalo Ramos has a really mature head on his shoulders, and he would be an exceptional addition for either Newcastle or West Ham.

Unfortunately for us though, it’s obvious to see which club has the advantage in the race to sign the Portuguese star.
