Well Bowen is surpassing one of his main role models so far this term according to one former Liverpool man.

Michael Owen says West Ham star Bowen is the player of the season ahead of Liverpool hero Salah.

Giving his verdict on the Premier League’s official website alongside a host of other pundits, Owen has explained why he has chosen West Ham’s main man as his pick over Liverpool’s Egyptian king.

“Mo Salah is having another great season but I’m going for Jarrod Bowen,” Owen said when asked to name his player of the season at the halfway stage.

‘Incredibly efficient’

“He has been hugely influential in West Ham’s success.

“Playing from the right, through the middle or a hybrid of the two, he is their chief goal threat.

“He’s been incredibly efficient in front of goal and already has 11 Premier League goals – just one short of his personal best of 12 in a single top-flight season.”

Owen might be risking the wrath of Liverpool fans by picking Bowen over Salah.

Refreshingly unbiased

Owen isn’t the only top pundit to shower Bowen with praise.

Another former Liverpool man Jamie Carragher and his Sky Sports colleague Gary Neville both picked the West Ham star in their team of season.

Neville controversially named four strikers in his side with Erling Haaland, Salah and Son Heung-min alongside him.
