Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville have both picked a West Ham star in their team of season but still manage to have a row over it.

West Ham have reached the halfway point of the season in the Premier League top six and the last 16 of the Europa League.

The Hammers also made the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup and have several players lighting up the league.

West Ham stars Jarrod Bowen, Lucas Paqueta and Mohammed Kudus have all shone so far this season.

So there was intrigue as to whether that would be recognised when Sky Sports asked two of their top pundits to name their team of the season so far.

Carragher and Neville both pick Bowen in team of season

Well Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville both picked a West Ham star in their team of season but still had a row over it.

Both Carragher and Neville selected West Ham star Bowen in their teams of the season so far on Sky Sports.

Neville controversially named four strikers in his side with Erling Haaland, Mo Salah and Son Heung-min alongside him. Carragher took his colleague to task by suggesting he was going to play Bowen as a number 10.

Here’s what both had to say on their decision to pick West Ham’s top scorer in their team of the season so far.

But duo still manage to row over it

Neville on Bowen:

“Bowen had to be in my team just because how West Ham have done, how well he’s done, the goals he’s scored, the impact he’s had. And when you’re doing that for a team that isn’t at the very top and isn’t creating the most chances I always think it’s more challenging. So he’s been outstanding. The thing that I felt uncomfortable with was having him as my sole centre-forward, because of the lack of options in midfield I went for the extra striker up top with Bowen. Bowen would be more of a loose forward around Haaland… a little bit like (Julian) Alvarez does for (Man) City.”

Carragher on Bowen:

“The football teams play now is 433, so one striker has to go in. Now Haaland’s been injured of late, yes he’s the top scorer but he plays for Man City. Yes he’s the best striker by a mile but I felt that Bowen deserved to go in for the fact that he’s scored in 11 games this season, he’s played 18. And seven goals away from home. So when you’re talking about strikers – I was looking at Dominic Solanke and (Ollie) Watkins but I think both of them got a hat-trick in a game and didn’t score in as many games as Bowen. And to score in seven games away from home, I think is pretty special as a striker.”
