Micah Richards clearly hasn’t watched West Ham as he tips Hammer with 123 goals to join Aston Villa

Aston Villa should try to sign one West Ham United player in particular in January, according to Micah Richards.

Micah Richards spent years four years playing for Aston Villa, and made 31 appearances for them in all competitions (Soccerbase).

The Villans are now streets ahead of where they were as a club during Richards’ time at Villa Park, and they have overtaken West Ham since they appointed Unai Emery.

The Hammers, under the guidance of David Moyes, have done something that Aston Villa haven’t been able to do for 27 years though – win a trophy.

And in order to get them over the line this season, Richards has suggested that Emery needs to sign a striker like Danny Ings.

Dear oh dear Micah, that really is a poor shout. I mean, I’d drive Ings to Villa Park myself, but there’s no way in a million years Emery would sign him….

Micah Richards tips Aston Villa to sign West Ham man

The former villa defender has been speaking on the The Rest is Football Podcast about the current goings on at Villa Park.

And he suggested that someone like Ings would be perfect for Aston Villa:

“It’s difficult to play the system, then have someone come into the team who is not expecting to play every week. That’s why it’s difficult. Someone like Danny Ings, but not necessarily Danny Ings – someone younger.”

I know he made it very clear that Villa should be signing ‘someone younger’ than Ings, but nonetheless, he still suggested that Emery should be targeting someone like the West Ham forward.

Wow, all I can say is that Richards clearly hasn’t watched the 31-year-old play over the past year, because if he had have done, he would know that the striker is painfully ill-suited to the way in which Villa play.

The experienced front-man has bagged 123 career goals (Transfermarkt), so he obviously is a decent finisher. However, his best years are in his rearview mirror now.

The sooner that Ings leaves the London Stadium the better. He has been atrocious for us, and is completely finished at Premier League level.

I’m just hoping that the powers that be at Aston Villa take notice of Micah Richards’ suggestion!
