Mark Noble has told UEFA what he thinks of West Ham getting AEK Larnaca in Europa Conference League last 16.
The Hammers will face the Cypriot side over two legs next month to compete for a place in the quarter-finals.
Larnaca are top of the Cypriot First Division and have only lost four of their 24 league matches this season.
But West Ham will be clear favourites for the tie with the first leg away on Thursday March 9th before the second leg at the London Stadium a week later on March 16th.
Although Larnaca are one of the Europa League dropouts, West Ham should have enough to get the job done – on paper at least.
West Ham avoided big hitters Lazio and Fiorentina and Cyprus makes for a beautiful away day for Hammers fans.
Hammers sporting director Mark Noble was at UEFA’s House of Football headquarters in Switzerland for the ceremony.
And Noble has told UEFA what he thinks of West Ham getting AEK Larnaca in the Europa Conference League last 16.
“Yea (looking forward to a trip to Cyprus,” Noble told UEFA TV.
“I mean look listen I think we can count on the weather being nice.
“It’s a long trip, though, it’s a four-and-a-half/five hour flight. It’s a place I’ve been going all my life for holidays so I know it pretty well.
“But they’re a good side, tough side. I think they’re top of their league now. But another game we’ve got to try and win.”
While it may be a beautiful setting for an away day, there is some bad news for West Ham fans about getting Larnaca in the last 16.
The winners of the tie will progress to the quarter-finals.
Winning the Conference League would guarantee West Ham European football for a third successive season as they would automatically qualify for the Europa League for the 2023/24 campaign.
But West Ham’s Premier League dire situation means Moyes will likely have to rest key players for these matches with survival of paramount importance.
