Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has raved about ‘exciting’ West Ham after the Declan Rice exit and praised two Hammers stars.

After getting their Europa League campaigns off to winning starts with respective 3-1 comeback victories, West Ham and Liverpool go head-to-head on Sunday.

The Hammers go to Anfield to take on Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side after a somewhat harsh defeat to Man City last time out.

Both David Moyes and Klopp have been overseeing significant rebuilds following the departures of key players at West Ham and Liverpool.

None more influential than ex Hammers captain Declan Rice, who left to join Arsenal in a £105m deal.

West Ham have won praise for their rebuild and early season form in the wake of Rice’s exit.

And it seems the manager of Sunday’s opponents is a big fan too.

Because Liverpool boss Klopp has raved about ‘exciting’ West Ham after the Rice exit and has praised two Hammers stars.

Speaking in his press conference, broadcast on Sky Sports News at 1pm on September 22, Klopp was full of praise for the West Ham project and Moyes.

‘They look really, really good I have to say’

And he picked out James Ward-Prowse and Lucas Paqueta for special praise too.

“We face some extremely strong opponents and West Ham is one of them,” Klopp said.

“It’s a really exciting project (at West Ham) and I’m happy for David that he really could build this team now over a few years. And even with Declan Rice out, they look really, really good I have to say.

“Ward-Prowse super signing, Paqueta is not a new signing but is a super player and with all the other guys they had already, they look really solid and that makes it pretty tricky…

“It’s a really good project, I cannot say differently. But we play them and we want to beat them.”

While he may have Klopp’s praise ringing in his ears, Moyes does have a bit of a headache because West Ham have two big doubts for the trip to face Liverpool.

Meanwhile the Reds are set to be boosted by the return of Trent Alexander-Arnold.
