Killer blow for West Ham as player doesn’t like the style of football Graham Potter is implementing

Graham Potter has failed to make much of an impact since taking over as West Ham United head coach in January.

West Ham appointed Potter to replace Julen Lopetegui, after the Spaniard oversaw a truly horrendous first half of the season at the London Stadium.

However, the 49-year-old Hammers head coach hasn’t had the desired impact thus far.

In fairness to him, there is a lot of mess that has been left behind by the previous regimes that he has to clear up. Potter will have to sell before he can buy at West Ham this summer.

And it seems like Mohammed Kudus could be the man who West Ham sacrifice in the summer window, in order to provide Potter with adequate funds to spend on new players.

However, the one major problem Potter will have is convincing top-class players to actually move to the London Stadium in the first place.

Angel Gomes doesn’t like the football Potter has implemented at West Ham

The Hammers have been heavily linked with a move to sign Lille midfielder Angel Gomes on a free transfer this summer.

It has been claimed that West Ham want Gomes to replace Edson Alvarez at the London Stadium.

However, the Hammers’ chances of signing the former Manchester United academy graduate seem to be bleak right now.

According to Claret and Hugh, Gomes is not keen to join West Ham because he doesn’t like the style of football being implemented by Potter right now.

That is fairly damning isn’t it, if true of course.

Gomes is perfect for West Ham

Missing out on signing the 24-year-old midfielder would be a major blow for the Hammers.

He is exactly the type of player West Ham need in the middle of the park.

Gomes possesses impeccable technique, and is very comfortable when in possession of the football.

His ability to receive the ball in tight areas would make the Hammers more press-resistant as a team.

However, it seems like a moot point now, with Gomes apparently not keen to join West Ham anyway.
