One West Ham United player was always digging out his teammates and demanding more, according to our former assistant coach Kevin Nolan.
Kevin Nolan left West Ham when David Moyes was moved on and replaced by Julen Lopetegui earlier this summer.
Interestingly, Nolan has since suggested that the reason why the Hammers are struggling to make signings this summer is because we don’t have European football on offer.
I still think we will improve massively with Lopetegui at the helm, but there might be some short-term pain to endure first.
Moyes left the Hammers squad in such a state when he left the London Stadium, and Lopetegui will not be able to change things overnight.
The Spaniard will be assisted by the older heads at West Ham, as he looks to bring success back to the club.
Kevin Nolan names West Ham player who digs out his teammates
We have plenty of exciting young talents at the London Stadium, and a handful of experienced older professionals as well.
And one of those players seemingly takes the lead in the Hammers dressing room.

Nolan was asked which West Ham player is the most vocal behind the scenes at the London Stadium, when speaking to talkSPORT (July 30th, 8:58am).
The former Hammers coach said, “I think it was Dec for the majority of it. Kurt Zouma spoke quite well, very little, but when he did speak, he spoke well. Angelo Ogbonna, who was a bit of the old school, once he got talking, he didn’t stop.“
“The likes of Cresswell, Aaron Cresswell has been a great servant to the club. He would be the one who I would say he would probably be the one to dig people out,” Nolan continued.
I guess that’s exactly why the Hammers decided to offer Aaron Cresswell a new deal and keep him at the London Stadium for at least one more season.
The left-back, 34, is clearly well past it physically, and he shouldn’t be anywhere near the Hammers starting XI as far as I’m concerned.
The comments from Kevin Nolan prove how important Cresswell is to have in the West Ham dressing room though.
Having an experienced pro holding his teammates to account will be crucial to our hopes of making some real progress under Lopetegui over the next year or so.
