West Ham have just announced that Karren Brady has stepped down from her position as vice-chair.

Brady is a well-known businesswoman and TV personality outside of football, but many will associate her with the Hammers.

She worked alongside co-owners David Sullivan and David Gold on the club’s board for more than a decade.

Brady has now named her favourite moment from 16 years at West Ham as her tenure comes to an end.

Karren Brady’s favourite moment in 16 years at West Ham

Brady had become an unpopular figure among West Ham supporters due to several controversial decisions.

The 57-year-old will probably be best remembered for orchestrating the Hammers’ move to the London Stadium.

She will also be held partly accountable for the East London club’s lack of success over the past two decades.

However, West Ham did at least win the Europa Conference League in 2023 – incidentally Brady’s career highlight.

“It has been a privilege to work alongside the Board, management, players, staff and supporters at West Ham United,” she told whufc.com.

“Together we have achieved remarkable milestones, but the highlight for me will always be lifting the UEFA Europa Conference League trophy – a moment that will stay with me forever.

“I am deeply grateful for the relationships, challenges and opportunities that have shaped my time at the Club.”

Brady was justified in singling out West Ham’s Conference League victory, but supporters would not attribute that success to her.

West Ham CEO, Karren Brady looks on ahead of kick-off in the English Premier League football match between West Ham United and Southampton at the London Stadium, in London on April 2, 2023.

They would probably say that it had a lot more to do with David Moyes, Jarrod Bowen and his fellow players.

Still, Hammers fans can soon forget about Brady after her long-awaited departure from the club’s board.

Brady’s parting message read: “While this chapter closes, my passion for football and commitment to supporting the next generation of leaders remain undiminished.

“I wish West Ham United every success for the future and look forward to following their continued achievements with pride.”
