Karren Brady has responded to a board confidant over West Ham’s alleged major London Stadium plans after fresh claims.
When West Ham moved to the former Olympic Stadium it was widely expected there would be a concerted drive to sell off the lucrative naming rights.
The LLDC had that responsibility but nearly seven years on there has been no deal and West Ham’s ground remains the London Stadium.
Indian automobile and business conglomerate Mahindra Group was once engaged in talks for the West Ham stadium naming rights. However, the deal did not materialise (Inside Sport).
West Ham vice-chairman Karren Brady then took on a leading role in the search to find a naming rights partner for the London Stadium.

LLDC shambles and naming rights gambles
The LLDC asked for Brady’s help as they stepped up their bid to secure a naming rights deal for the 2020-21 season. But again nothing materialised.
Stadium naming rights deals can be worth anything between £5m-15m per season (90 Min).
And it was recently reported the London Stadium owners would only be willing to consider handing over negotiations around naming rights for the stadium if the Hammers paid them £4m per year.
There has also been much speculation surrounding West Ham’s main sponsor Betway. With betting companies banned from the 2026/27 season, the likes of West Ham and another nine Premier League clubs have to find new shirt sponsors.
In a letter from Brady which has been published online, she made it clear West Ham will soon be going to market to find a new main sponsor. And she makes it clear that packaging West Ham’s sponsorship with a naming rights deal is the best approach.

Karren Brady responds to board confidant over West Ham’s major London Stadium plans after fresh claims
The Mail’s In The Money column claimed Brady is in talks about ‘re configuring’ West Ham’s deal with Betway to put the sponsor on the London Stadium roof as part of a naming rights deal.
Now Brady has responded to a board confidant over West Ham’s major London Stadium plans after the fresh claims.
Speaking to Sean Whetstone, Brady labelled the Mail’s claims as ‘nonsense’.
“(There are) no discussions with Betway about London Stadium naming rights and stadium naming rights were not West Ham’s to sell as, if they were, they would have been sold 10 years ago!” Brady told Whetstone for 6foot2.
That nips that one in the bud very emphatically.
