West Ham United fans are desperate to see Jesse Lingard sign permanently this summer.

Signing Lingard from Manchester United on a permanent basis is one of David Moyes’s top priorities at West Ham this summer.

The midfield ace starred during a 16-game loan spell at West Ham and played a big part in the club securing their best ever Premier League points total and Europa League group stage football for the first time.

Lingard saga shows no signs of letting up

But what seemed like it might be a straightforward transfer given how a deal would suit all parties involved, has turned into something of a saga.

There has been claim and counter claim over Lingard’s future all summer.

And the long, drawn out affair has become somewhat tiresome for West Ham fans.

Speculation over the last week claimed Manchester United are willing to sell Lingard but only for £30 million (Mirror Online).

Claim and counter claim over loan star’s future

With just one year left on his current contract that valuation seems rather steep.

West Ham insider ExWHUemployee has downplayed the club’s chances of signing Lingard.

But West Ham fans don’t need much encouragement.

And when they saw the 28-year-old comment on a post from West Ham star Pablo Fornals, many took it as a sign he wants to get back to the London Stadium.

Lingard comments on Fornals post and fans love it after reporter’s claim – but does it mean anything?

Fornals has taken the departing Felipe Anderson’s shirt number for next season.

The Spaniard posted a picture of him posing with the number eight shirt, saying: “New number but same excitement and more desire.”

And Lingard commented saying Pablitooo with flame and heart eyes emojis.

Clutching at straws? Perhaps.

But given the exciting Lingard update provided by the reporter who broke Haller yesterday, maybe there is plenty to read into from Lingard commenting on posts from Hammers players.

In other West Ham news, is this why new West Ham ‘Argentina’ away kit has much criticised white block?

And first phase of stadium plan will leave Hammers one step from surpassing Spurs.
