Jarrod Bowen has joked about the only club he’d leave West Ham for as a Spurs fan puts him on the spot and has named his favourite teammate.

West Ham and rivals Tottenham Hotspur were both forced to sell their top players in the summer as they waved goodbye to Declan Rice and Harry Kane.

Many predicted difficult times for the Hammers and Spurs as a result.

But if anything both West Ham and Tottenham have defied the sceptics to exceed expectations after enduring difficult seasons last term.

Spurs are playing exciting football and are vying for the Champions League places again while West Ham have recovered from a sticky spell to put themselves just outside the European mix.

The Hammers are into the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup and top their Europa League group too.

Bowen jokes about the only club he’d leave West Ham for

Arguably one of the highlights of the season so far for West Ham, though, is tying Prague hero Jarrod Bowen down to a mega seven-year deal.

Bowen, whose father-in-law to-be Danny Dyer is a Hammers fanatic, has gone from playing for Hereford to England via West Ham.

And now he has vowed he wants to play the rest of his career for the Hammers.

But is there any other club which could tempt Bowen away?

That was the question put to Bowen when he attended a coaching session for young footballers in Brentwood as part of a campaign by The Sun.

Bowen has joked about the only club he’d leave West Ham for as a Spurs fan puts him on the spot and has named his favourite teammate.

Video from the visit shows a young Tottenham fan ask Bowen the one club he would sign for if he left the Hammers.

His answer: “Real Madrid, I like Real Madrid.”

So you can breathe a sigh of relief West Ham fans because – as good as Bowen is – that’s one move that’s unlikely to ever materialise.

Bowen also named Lucas Paqueta as his favourite West Ham teammate.

He then said he would want West Ham to sign Kylian Mbappe if money was no object.

“There’s a few Tottenham fans here that don’t like me and are trying to kick me, but it’s all good fun,” Bowen said.

“Being here has brought back really good memories for me of being their age and having a chance to play with my friends.

“I remember the chaos on the pitch with everyone running for the ball and wanting to score, just like these guys.”
