Julen Lopetegui is surely hanging on to his job by a thread at West Ham United now, after Saturday’s 4-1 defeat to Manchester City.
West Ham appointed Julen Lopetegui to replace David Moyes in the summer, but the move hasn’t worked out one little bit.
Interestingly, Moyes was spotted in the stands at The Etihad during our 4-1 defeat, and Lopetegui would have been well aware of the Scot’s presence.
The Spaniard has failed to implement a discernible playing style since taking over at the London Stadium, and that in itself is a sackable offence if you ask me.
If the Hammers put in a poor performance against Aston Villa in the FA Cup next week Lopetegui will surely be sacked.
He has overseen a painful regression at the club this season, and that’s unacceptable after the money that was spent in the summer transfer window.
So what’s next? If Lopetegui is to remain in charge, he needs to find a way of getting the best out of the players.
However, after his latest comments, I highly doubt that he is capable of doing that.

Lopetegui just seems to be utterly clueless right now.
The team he has built is nowhere near the standards required to challenge for a top seven spot in the Premier League.
Is he actually aware of how bad things are under his leadership right now though? I don’t believe he is.
Lopetegui made a quite frankly absurd claim after our 4-1 defeat to Man City, as quoted by The Evening Standard:
“We are not thinking about the number of goals we’ve conceded. They have been very different matches, in my opinion. It is a frustrating day.“
I’m sorry, but those comments are unacceptable from Lopetegui.
How can he not be thinking about the goals we’ve shipped once again?
Before the chastening defeat to Manchester City, we had already lost eight games already this season by three goals or more – that number now stands at a staggering nine.
There is obviously a big problem with our defence right now, and a wider issue pertaining to the fact that the players completely collapse as a team once they go 2-0 down.
How can Julen Lopetegui talk so nonchalantly about West Ham’s clear deficiencies when it comes to our defensive record?
It’s unacceptable if you ask me, and the Spaniard’s comments after the game made me incredibly angry.
