Former Premier League striker Troy Deeney has highlighted Tomas Soucek after West Ham’s 2-1 victory over Everton.

Soucek scored the opening goal and won Hammers News’ Man of the Match vote for his performance on Saturday.

The 31-year-old has become an integral part of Nuno Espirito Santo’s team in their battle to avoid relegation this season.

Deeney has now asked an important question about Soucek after he delivered in a key moment for West Ham once again.

How will the Premier League table look when it’s all said and done? 🤔

West Ham are in a precarious position with 4 games to go! 😬

Troy Deeney hails Tomas Soucek after Man of the Match performance

West Ham have signed several midfielders over the past few seasons who could have replaced Tomas Soucek.

However, the Czech Republic international continues to find ways to nail down his place in the starting XI.

His latest performance perfectly demonstrated his value, scoring a header and clearing an Everton shot off the line.

This persuaded Deeney to name Soucek in his Premier League team of the week alongside Jarrod Bowen.

Deeney, amazed by Soucek’s consistency after six years at West Ham, then asked a rather pertinent question.

“Another goal for the big fellow,” he wrote for BBC Sport. “How many times will West Ham try to move on from him, and he just keeps scoring the goals that keep them safe and keep them moving forward?

“It’s massive to have a player of his capability who wants to go and get you goals. In a huge game for them, he stepped up big, yet again.”

You have spoken! Where does this rank in Soucek’s best EVER games for West Ham? 👀

Hopefully for West Ham, Soucek will deliver at least one more big moment in the remaining four games of the season.

Meanwhile, the Hammers can also rely on their club captain and star player, Jarrod Bowen, in the Premier League run-in.

Bowen provided two assists against Everton, and only Bruno Fernandes has created more goals in the 2025/26 campaign.

Deeney named the “fantastic” winger in his team of the week and called for his Hammers teammates to help him out.

“Captain fantastic,” Deeney added. “Huge game, huge performance against Everton. He steps up continuously for this team. Hopefully, they’re going to give him some help.”
