The goals have not flowed as freely as before for Jarrod Bowen this season. But, as West Ham United edged past Everton, the captain set a standard not seen since his first full season at the London Stadium.
Callum Wilson will hog the headlines. Understandably, following his stoppage-time heroics.
Should West Ham United remain narrowly in front of bitter rivals Tottenham Hotspur – they are two points above with four games to go – Wilson’s 92nd minute tap-in could be the defining moment of another claret and blue-themed ‘Great Escape’.
Who was YOUR MOTM vs Everton and why? 🎉🎉🎉
Tomas Soucek scored another crucial goal himself; a flashing header powered past a helpless Jordan Pickford. But Jarrod Bowen’s contributions should not go unnoticed.
Jarrod Bowen reaches ten Premier League assists for West Ham United
By setting up both of West Ham’s goals, either side of a Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall equaliser, the skipper took his tally of assists to ten for the Premier League campaign.
Only once before – in 2021/22 – has Bowen reached double figures for assists. In his three previous campaigns, he recorded five, six and eight respectively.

If things stay as they are, this will also be the first time Bowen has ever created more goals than he’s scored himself.
That anonymous performance in a bore draw with Crystal Palace aside, Bowen has been ‘back to his brilliant best’ in recent times.
Quite remarkably, the England international had only one assist to his name by matchday 22. Nine have come in his 12 games since. A run started by that 3-1 victory over Sunderland in January, and maintained with two more when David Moyes returned to his old stomping ground.

Bowen whipped in the corner from which Soucek put the Hammers ahead. It was his knockdown, meanwhile, which resulted in Wilson’s potentially season-defining winner.
The records show that Bukayo Saka of Arsenal is the most recent player, pre-Bowen, to rack up at least nine assists during a run of 12 matches. A feat he achieved at the start of 2024/25.
