Here's why Callum Wilson could join West Ham United in the 'next few days'

Newcastle United striker Callum Wilson is seemingly firmly on the West Ham United radar this summer.

The former Bournemouth centre-forward is one of the very best at what he does, but his injury record is certainly rather worrying.

Julen Lopetegui is clearly keen to sign a proven centre-forward before the start of the new season, but is Wilson the man we need? I have my doubts…

In addition to that, Wilson then trolled us about our transfer business last year, suggesting that our approach to the transfer market was ‘confusing’.

So wouldn’t it be typical if the Hammers signed him this summer!

It seems like there’s every chance that that’s exactly what could happen imminently…

Callum Wilson could join West Ham in the ‘next few days’

The Hammers’ long-term nemesis is on course to swap St James’ Park for the London Stadium this summer.

Wilson has scored 12 goals in 14 games against the Hammers, so if we sign him at least he won’t be able to hurt us anymore!

According to the Chronicle, West Ham have made an enquiry to sign Wilson, 32, this summer, and are prepared to make a cash bid for the striker.

And here’s why the transfer could happen imminently…

The Chronicle claim that the Magpies’ move to sign Everton striker Dominic Clavert-Lewin could expedite Wilson’s Hammers switch.

Wilson has scored 140 goals in 370 career games, with 88 of those coming in the Premier League – a fine return.

I have to say though, I don’t think we should be going anywhere near Wilson. He’s 32 for a start, and is incredibly injury prone.

He has missed 462 days of action through injury since he moved to St James’ Park in the summer of 2020.

That obviously isn’t good enough, and West Ham should be targeting a far more physically robust striker than Callum Wilson this summer in my opinion.
