West Ham United face Olympiacos in the Europa League tonight, and it seems like we could have one key player missing.
A win against Olympiacos in the Europa League would all but ensure West Ham United’s passage into the the last 16 of the competition.
Hammers boss David Moyes will have to field a really strong side tonight, after our 2-1 defeat in Greece two weeks ago, and the Scot has already pleaded with the fans to make the London Stadium a cauldron.
The team need to respond after a really poor run of form over the past few weeks, and tonight will be the ideal opportunity for us to do just that.
West Ham have pretty much a full bill of health for the Europa League showdown, but we might be missing one very important player.
It seems like club captain Kurt Zouma is touch and go to be fit for the hugely important match this evening. He has missed our last two games through injury and we could be without him yet again tonight…
Injury update ahead of West Ham Europa League clash with Olympiacos
Moyes addressed the media yesterday afternoon, ahead of tonight’s vital Europa Group A clash at the London Stadium.
And the Scot responded when asked by reporters to provide an injury update, as quoted by WHUFC.com:
“We’re still waiting a little bit on Kurt Zouma. He didn’t train on Wednesday morning but has done a little bit inside, so we’ll have a look at Kurt tomorrow and see how he is.”
Hopefully the French central defender is passed fit for tonight’s game, because we really miss him when he doesn’t play.
And I would like to see him paired up with Konstantinos Mavropanos in the heart of defence. It’s clear as day that Zouma and Nayef Aguerd do not work as a partnership.
West Ham have to beat Olympiacos in the Europa League tonight by hook or by crook – anything other than three points will be quite simply not good enough.
Having Kurt Zouma available for the match will be a major boost for us but judging by Moyes’s comments, it’s highly doubtful that he’ll be ready to start the match.
And that is a real shame.
