West Ham United head coach Graham Potter needs to strengthen his squad in pretty much every single department this summer.
However, there is one signing he needs to make above all else.
Graham Potter took over at West Ham in January, and if he was under any illusions about the size of the task he faced then at the London Stadium, he certainly won’t be now.
It has been claimed that Graham Potter knows exactly what he needs to change at West Ham, with more youth, dynamism and energy required.

A big Hammers rebuild lies in wait for Potter.
And he has already made it very clear how he wants to kick off his summer business.
Graham Potter has already dropped a big West Ham transfer hint
The Hammers chief has been talking openly about the need to have the opportunity to play with varying systems.
And Potter has been absolutely raving about Niclas Fullkrug recently.
On Friday, the Hammers head coach shared how the German provides West Ham with a completely different outlet.
“Clearly he’s a top player, and you can see that with the impact he had against Wolves and Bournemouth.
“He gives us a different outlet. He’s got a great personality, and we like him a lot, but he’s had a complicated season. We’re trying to manage it so he can play as many minutes, safely.“
And just last week, Graham Potter echoed a similar sentiment about Niclas Fullkrug:
“Sometimes in the Premier League, it’s not easy to go from the goalkeeper through the team to attack and create stuff and I think Niclas gives us that out ball.

“He gives us a focal point. He gives us a chance to get second balls. He gives us a chance to attack quicker, a bit more vertically.“
It’s been right there in open sight. Potter has been telling the West Ham fans and the owners that he needs an elite striker to help his team function.
Graham Potter’s system won’t function without elite striker
Hammers chief Graham Potter has made it very clear that he wants to sign a top-class striker for West Ham this summer.
Sure, Niclas Fullkrug is capable of performing that role, but will Potter be prepared to head into the new season reliant on an injury prone 32-year-old leading the line for his team?
That’s highly doubtful.
Graham Potter will undoubtedly bring a talented young striker to West Ham this summer.
He needs to do exactly that in order for his system to function.
At the the same time though, that doesn’t mean that the Hammers should sell Fullkrug – he will be an important player for them moving forward.
