Graham Potter has opened up on what he really thinks about the West Ham United home support.

Graham Potter replaced Julen Lopetegui at the London Stadium back in January, but the progress at West Ham has been slow to say the least over the past three months.

There is so much work for Potter to do in the transfer market this summer, but the concern is that David Sullivan is at the wheel regarding West Ham transfers.

If Potter is adequately backed in the transfer market, there’s every chance that he will be able to oversee some genuine progress at the London Stadium.

Whilst the Hammers fans have backed Potter to the hilt, there have been some dissenting voices of late.

The players were booed off by the home fans at the London Stadium during our 2-2 draw with Bournemouth 12 days ago.

Graham Potter responded by saying he totally understood the West Ham fans after that reaction.

The Hammers fans are one of the best and most loyal group of supporters in the country, if not the best.

However, we have received unfair criticism in the past from certain pundits, for some unknown reason.

It has been suggested that we’re too demanding as a fanbase but considering the fact we have had one trophy to celebrate in 45 years, I really can’t take those shouts seriously.

Potter was asked during his press conference on Thursday what he thinks of the Hammers home support.

And he responded positively, as quoted by WHUFC.com:

It’s something we want to put right. We need to play well on Saturday, and we’ll be trying to do that.

The supporters have been brilliant since we’ve been here, home and away. They’ve got behind the team, and been fair on us.

This period is important for us, but we’re hoping to try and finish in a good way, with as many points as we can.

We’re pleased with how we played at Liverpool, and now we need to turn that into points.

Graham Potter under real pressure to start delivering at West Ham

It’s all well and good being patient, but we need to start seeing results now.

Potter has been in charge of the Hammers for three months, and we are yet to see the ‘new manager bounce’ that every other team seems to get.

There are signs that West Ham are improving slowly under Potter, certainly defensively.

However, the Hammers need to show so much more inside the final third.

Hopefully everything will come together next seaosn, but in order for that to happen, the recruitment has to be spot on this summer.
