Graham Potter says West Ham fans and reporters have got it all wrong about Luis Guilherme

Graham Potter handed Luis Guilherme his first ever start in a competitive game for West Ham United against Wolves on Tuesday.

Luis Guilherme began the game on the left wing for West Ham, drifting inside to the number 10 position, but Graham Potter hooked him at half-time.

It has been claimed that Luis Guilherme is actually not impressing during West Ham training.

However, the fact that he started the game against Wolves on Tuesday night would have given him huge confidence.

It’s a real shame that we didn’t see more of him.

In fairness, Guilherme put in a fairly underwhelming performance at Molineux, but what does Potter really think about him?

The Hammers signed the 19-yer-old from Palmeiras in the summer of 2024.

It has actually been claimed that West Ham could be ready to sell Luis Guilherme when the summer transfer window opens.

So is he impressing the gaffer or not? Well, now we seemingly have an answer.

Potter spoke to reporters after the game, and responded when asked about Guilherme’s performances during training, as quoted by WHUFC.com:

In the training sessions and where we’ve been working, they (the young players Ferguson, Guilherme and Scarles) have impressed me.

Graham Potter is playing a dangerous game with Luis Guilherme

Potter fought incredibly hard to keep the young Brazilian winger at the London Stadium during the January transfer window.

In fact, it was claimed that he blocked a move to Feyenoord for Guilherme on transfer deadline day.

However, that may well end up being a big mistake from the Hammers coach.

That’s due to the fact that aside from the game against Wolves, Graham Potter has barely given Luis Guilherme any minutes whatsoever.

He can’t have it both ways.

If we hardly see the Brazilian between now and the end of the season, then I fully expect him to be sold in the summer.
