West Ham United head coach Graham Potter needs to make numerous big signings in the summer transfer window.

Graham Potter is said to be plotting a big squad overhaul during the off-season.

However, it has been claimed that funds will be tight in the summer at West Ham, so Potter will have to be thrifty in his recruitment.

The squad at the London Stadium is a decent one, but the Hammers head coach will be only too aware that he needs to bolster his ranks in numerous different positions.

That said, moving on some of the deadwood will be equally as important for Potter.

He needs to get rid of some underperforming players in order to boost his coffers ahead of the summer transfer window.

And it seems like he may be set for a very easy, straightforward win regarding that.

Club very keen to sign West Ham flop Maxwel Cornet

Signed for £17 million from Burnley in the summer of 2022, Maxwel Cornet proved to be a disastrous addition for the Hammers.

Back in January, the 28-year-old was recalled to the London Stadium after his horror loan spell with Southampton.

He then was shipped out almost immediately to Genoa, again on loan.

And Cornet has surprisingly been a really big hit out in Italy, with one goal and one assist to his name in four games so far (Transfermarkt).

And now CalcioGenoa are claiming that Genoa could sign him on a permanent deal in the summer.

However, it is suggested that Patrick Vieira could also opt to bring him to Luigi Ferraris on another loan deal.

What Patrick Vieira said about Maxwel Cornet will stun West Ham fans

The Ivory Coast international was utterly dire for the Hammers.

So with that in mind, Vieira’s verdict on him might just surprise the West Ham fans.

The Genoa boss spoke to reporters and raved about the former Burnley man:

“He brought quality and energy. We have things we need to work on but he’s a quality player.”

Quality and energy? Those are two things we quite simply didn’t see from Maxwel Cornet at West Ham.

It could be argued that the Ivorian was actually our worst signing over the past decade.

I wish him all the best in the future, but he clearly wasn’t good enough, nor physical enough, to succeed with West Ham in the Premier League.
