Glum David Moyes hits West Ham players with his sternest warning yet in angry post match video

A glum and visibly agitated David Moyes hit his West Ham players with his sternest warning yet in an angry post match video following their FA Cup exit.

West Ham were beaten 3-1 by a much-changed Southampton to kiss goodbye to the FA Cup for another year.

Ralph Hasenhuttl made NINE changes, leaving key players out, but the Saints still managed to beat a near full strength West Ham.

West Ham were wasteful in the first half and paid the price when they went 1-0 behind to a long range strike from Romain Perraud.

A Michail Antonio tap-in pulled the Hammers level in the second half.

But just a few minutes later VAR adjudged that reported West Ham striker target Armando Broja had been fouled by Craig Dawson in the box and James Ward-Prowse made no mistake from the penalty spot.

The decision was nothing short of a disgrace with the officials failing to spot a blatant foul on Dawson by Broja in the build-up.

Broja then terrorised West Ham again in the dying moments, waltzing past the Hammers defence and finishing into the far corner.

West Ham’s players were simply nowhere near good enough to progress on the night with their profligacy and decision-making costing them dear.

The manager was far from impressed with what he saw.

“It’s not what I wanted, it’s not what I hoped for,” Moyes told West Ham TV with a face that will speak volumes to his players.

“We’re going to have to play much better if we’re going to get anything at all this season. We just didn’t have any quality at all in the final third.

“Our build-up was fine, our football was quite good. We went behind to a worldie of a goal but every time we went near their goal it was like we were hitting a brick wall. We were so bad in and around their box. It’s quality isn’t it? You need quality, and we certainly lacked it tonight.

“I’ve got to say, it feels terrible tonight.

“If the players don’t improve then we’ve not got anything to play for. We need to up our game.”

This was the most angry West Ham fans or players will have seen Moyes since his return to the club two years ago.

And with good reason. Performances have not been consistently strong for some time now.

With games against Liverpool and Sevilla away up next, West Ham’s players simply must heed Moyes’s warning if the club is to stand a chance of any success this season.
