Gianluca Scamacca scores amazing back-heel nutmeg goal, assists and nets piledriver to show West Ham what they’re missing.

The last thing West Ham boss David Moyes needed to see this evening was Gianluca Scamacca ripping it up for Atalanta.

Three defeats in a week for the Hammers have piled pressure on Moyes, who has been bemoaning his side’s toothlessness and ineffectiveness going forward.

That has irritated West Ham fans who have been quick to point out Moyes decided not to sign a replacement striker after selling Scamacca to Atalanta in the summer.

Michail Antonio recently boasted about why he has seen off the likes of Scamacca and Sebastien Haller over the years at West Ham.

But he has one very little to back it up since and has not scored in the Premier League for West Ham since August.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin showed what a difference it can make having a proper bona fide striker in your side as he scored the only goal of the game for Everton against West Ham.

Now Scamacca has scored an amazing back-heel nutmeg goal, laid on an assist and netted a piledriver to show West Ham what they’re missing.

Atalanta are in action away to Empoli this evening. And Scamacca scored a brilliant striker’s goal after just five minutes.

Scamacca smacker for Moyes and West Ham

Channelling his hero Zlatan Ibrahimovic, the former West Ham forward controlled the ball between two defenders in the box before drawing the goalkeeper and backheeling the ball through his legs from a difficult angle.

It is a goal that oozes pure class. You can watch it in the post below.

Scamacca then set up Teun Koopmeiners for a second goal on the half hour. The Italian also saw two further goals ruled out by VAR in a dominant first half display.

In the second half Scamacca continued to strutt his stuff, scoring again on 51 minutes to make it 3-0.

Taking the ball near the edge of the box, Scamacca smashes an unerring drive past the Empoli ‘keeper.

You can see that goal below.

With the game won, Scamacca was then substituted with 25 minutes remaining.

Moyes claimed Scamacca did not want to be at West Ham anymore after his difficult debut season.

But how much of that was down to the manager, his lack of belief in the £35m signing and the system he uses?

Unfortunately this is looking like being another Haller Hammers horror situation for West Ham and Moyes.

How West Ham could have done with a quality forward with that kind of finishing prowess over the last week.
