These are great times to be a West Ham fan and the under-21s gave us yet another reason to be happy last night.
The Hammers’ youth-team took on League One side Gillingham in game-week three of Group 9 of the Papa John’s Trophy last night.
The youngsters won the game 2-0 and we now sit top of our group. Quite incredible really considering the fact that we are playing against senior teams full of proper men who are grizzly and seasoned competitors.
Things are looking incredibly bright for West Ham United as a football club at the moment.
David Moyes is overseeing a superb season with the senior team whilst we have numerous incredibly talented youngsters coming through the ranks at the London Stadium.
One of those players is Harrison Ashby. The 19-year-old was on his best form once again last night.
Future superstar scores and assists during West Ham under-21s win
Dmitri Halajko’s side looked really good against Gillingham last night. They were more than deserving of their 2-0 win.
And Ashby stood out for the under-21s yet again.
He assisted our first goal scored by Thierry Nevers and scored our second.
The teenager has now bagged four goals and six assists in just 13 games for West Ham’s under-21s and under-23s so far this season.
Those are some incredible numbers for a right-back!
Ashby has a very exciting career ahead of him in the game.
Hopefully he will spend the rest of his playing days at the London Stadium.
The future is very bright for Ashby and for West Ham in general. And last night’s EFL Cup win capped off a fantastic week for the East London outfit.
