‘Fake news’: After failed 2021 West Ham transfer, Matheus Pereira has been forced into a ‘contract termination’ tweet.

Hammers boss David Moyes tried to bring the Brazilian to the London Stadium in the summer of 2021.

However, he ended up joining Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal instead for around £16 million (The Leicester Mercury).

West Ham fans will remember the transfer saga well. David Moyes chased Jesse Lingered like an obsessed stalker, before switching his attention to the Brazilian attacking midfielder.

The Hammers missed out on both in the end!

The Saudi side won the race for the talented South American star, but it seems as though things haven’t gone too swimmingly for him out in the Middle East…

Matheus Pereira forced to clarify contract situation on Twitter

Football journalist Zach Lowy recently claimed that he was trying to force his way out of Al-Hilal due to three months unpaid wages.

And then, Egyptian journalist Abdelhamed Galal claimed that Al-Hilal have terminated Pereira’s contract.

However, the Brazilian has suggested that that claim is in fact ‘fake news’:

Whatever is going on for Pereira out in Saudi Arabia, something clearly isn’t right.

He will surely be regretting the move now, rather than remaining in the Premier League with West Ham back in 2021.

He made his bed though, and now he can lie in it.

Matheus Pereira obviously isn’t entirely happy with Al-Hilal, as new claims seem to emerge every week about his contract situation. There is no smoke without fire after all.

Whether he will ever return to the Premier League having spent 18 months out on Saudi Arabia remains to be seen though.
