Edson Alvarez absolutely raved about one of his teammates after West Ham United’s win over Everton on Saturday.
West Ham midfielder Edson Alvarez bagged our third and final goal of the afternoon against Everton, but there was another Hammer whose performance really did draw the attention of the fans and pundits alike.
Alphonse Areola was really in the mood at Goodison Park. He put in one of the best performances I have seen from a goalkeeper in the Premier League this term, and proved once again that David Moyes should have been playing him as our number one stopper in the league long before this season.
The 31-year-old has come on leaps and bounds this season with more regular action, and a better understanding with his back-line.

Edson Alvarez raves about West Ham teammate
The tenacious tackling midfielder offered high words of praise for Areola, when speaking to the media after our win over Everton.
Alvarez labelled ‘Phonse’ as ‘unbelievable’, as quoted by WHUFC.com:
“It was teamwork that got us the victory. Tomáš did amazing [with the second goal], but Alphonse did unbelievably today.”
It’s great that Areola is finally getting the credit he deserves – he has been in truly sensational form for us this season, and I dread to think where we’d be without him.
Areola has made the second most saves in the Premier League this season with 103 – just five behind Sheffield United’s Wes Fodderingham (Premier League’s official website).
His shot-stopping ability has to be up there with the very best in world football. If he can find a way to improve upon the way that he commands his penalty area from crosses then we will have a world-class player on our hands.
The West Ham supporters are huge fans of the Frenchman, and Edson Alvarez clearly is as well.
