West Ham have been dealt a double summer transfer window blow, with Tottenham reportedly entering the race for one of our key targets.

Not only are Tottenham now in for a player David Moyes wants to bring to West Ham in the summer transfer window, but his asking price has also risen by £8 million.

The player in question is Genoa star Albert Gudmundsson – a player the Hammers tried to sign for £22 million in the summer.

Now, according to a report from Napoli Calcio 24, Tottenham want to sign the Icelandic international, and Genoa have risen their asking price for him to £30 million.

That is about as big of a double blow as you could get for the Hammers isn’t it!

Summer transfer window blow for West Ham

With reports in Italy suggesting that Tottenham are now in for Gudmundsson, and that his price has sky rocketed by nearly 33%, it’s really bad news for the Hammers.

The 26-year-old is a properly talented player, and he’s exactly what we need at West Ham right now.

He has been on fire for Genoa so far this season, and has bagged 11 goals and three assists in 25 games (Transfermarkt).

The 35-capped Iceland international can play anywhere along the front-line but is at his best when operating on the left wing or in the number 10 role.

Gudmundsson is a very good dribbler, has impressive pace, impeccable technical ability and possesses a wicked delivery (Breaking the Lines).

The Genoa ace would provide Moyes with a completely different option to the ones he currently possesses, and he’d add real pace, directness and some proper output to our attacking play.

However, it’s clear to see that Tottenham entering the race for the 26-year-old will make West Ham United’s task of signing him in the summer transfer window very hard indeed.

The fact that his asking price has gone up to £30 million certainly won’t help our cause either.
