David Moyes’s pathetic excuse for Brighton defeat was actually embarrassing, and it left the West Ham United boss nowhere to hide.

The West Ham players were humbled by Brighton yesterday afternoon, and they lost the game 4-0 in the end – a fair reflection of the contest.

David Moyes is in a whole world of trouble right now, and a defeat to Aston Villa next weekend could very well see him moved on from his role as manager at the London Stadium.

There were a multitude of things that went wrong for the Hammers yesterday, and our problems were all our own making.

There were no excuses, it was just a shambolic display from the players that was a by-product of an abysmal setup from Moyes, bereft of any kind of plan to actually beat Brighton.

However, Moyes came up with an excuse for our 4-0 defeat…

The Scot addressed the media after our defeat down on the south coast yesterday afternoon.

And Moyes resounded when asked what went wrong against Brighton, as quoted by Football.London:

“I could give a bit and say we put a huge effort in, put out our strongest team to try and get through in midweek in the FA Cup. We did everything we could in the first 80 minutes and couldn’t quite see it through at Old Trafford. Did that play a part today? I believe it did.”

Wow.

This is coming from the man who had Gianluca Scamacca, Manuel Lanzini and Flynn Downes as options – all of whom didn’t play on Wednesday night.

He also had Pablo Fornals, Kurt Zouma and Aaron Cresswell to use if he so wished. Or how about one or two of the club’s talented youngsters? Yet he rolled out pretty much the same starting XI that lost to Manchester United, aside from two changes.

That’s fine of course, but he can’t then claim that our defeat on Wednesday played a part in that abomination yesterday. The players on the bench would certainly not have done any worse than what was served up by the players who started against the Seagulls.

David Moyes’s pathetic excuse for the Brighton defeat was really painful to listen to. His excuses are becoming tiresome now and so transparent that they are now completely see through.
