West Ham United boss David Moyes has not made life easy for Said Benrahma since the Algerian signed for the club.

Man United fans have given Liverpool an unfair advantage over David Moyes

But the Hammers manager has gone out of his way to speak to and praise Benrahma this week.

That’s according to reliable West Ham insider ExWHUemployee.

It is fair to say Benrahma’s time at West Ham so far has not been plain sailing.

Benrahma having to earn his Hammers stripes under taskmaster Moyes

The playmaker has found himself something of a bit-part player under Moyes, who has elected to ease the £25m man in gently.

After 26 Premier League appearances the 25-year-old is yet to score his first goal for West Ham.

But the Algerian put in arguably his best performance for West Ham in the scintillating 2-1 victory over Burnley on Monday night.

Benrahma added another assist to take his tally to five – all of which have resulted in West Ham winning matches.

Even so Benrahma still did not last the 90 minutes, being withdrawn for Jarrod Bowen much to the bemusement of West Ham fans.

Moyes has been strict with Benrahma.

The Scot has demanded he do more defensively, be more efficient with the ball and warned he must stop trying to force that first goal.

Some fans believe Scot has been harsh on playmaker

Some West Ham fans feel Moyes treats Benrahma harshly. And many were quick to spot the Scot berating Benrahma after an errant cross at the end of the first half against the Clarets.

It emerged after the Burnley game that of the 15 games Benrahma has started for West Ham since joining, the Hammers have won 11, drawn three and lost just once.

Now according to ExWHUemployee on the latest West Ham Way podcast (May 5th), Moyes has gone out of his way to speak to Benrahma this week and praise him for his performance.

“Moyes apparently spoke to Benrahma today (Tuesday) and praised him,” Ex said on TWHW podcast (May 5th).

Insider says Moyes went out of his way to speak to and praise Benrahma after Burnley display

“You know I think he went out of his way, I don’t know if they were at training today, but whatever method it was – whether it was at training, whether he called him up or whether it was after the game, but apparently he made it very clear that that’s the sort of performance he really wants from him.

“And he thinks he can deliver… I think he has tried to big up Benrahma on that performance which is good.”

Benrahma’s reward for his best performance in a West Ham shirt looks set to be the fact that he keeps it for Everton this Sunday.
