West Ham United boss David Moyes should drive one of his players up to Villa Park himself, amidst rumours that Unai Emery wants to bring him to Aston Villa.
David Moyes has a lot of work to do at West Ham in the January transfer window, with numerous incomings needed, but there could be one player set for an exit, with Aston Villa in the hunt for his signature.
Hammers defender Thilo Kehrer is said to be a transfer target for Villa this winter, and I think that Moyes shouldn’t think twice about letting him go.
The Scot signed the 27-capped Germany international for around £13 million from Paris Saint-Germain in August 2022 (The Sun).
It would be no surprise to see Kehrer leave the Hammers, he has already been linked with a move to Bayern Munich.
And Villa, or any other club for that matter, signing him in January would do us a massive favour as far as I’m concerned…
David Moyes must sell West Ham defender
If there is even the slightest chance of recouping anywhere near what we paid for Kehrer, the Hammers need to sell him as a matter of urgency.
Aside from his impressive substitute appearance in last season’s Europa Conference League final, the German has been woeful for West Ham.
He has fallen well down the right-back and centre-back pecking order under David Moyes this season, with just 371 minutes action in all competitions to his name, with only 18 minutes coming in the Premier League (Transfermarkt).
Pretty much every time he has played for West Ham, he has let us down with his lapses in concentration, rash tackling and poor decision making.
He is quite clearly not cut out for the Premier League, what with its intensity and physical robustness. Kehrer is one we should just write off as a mistake, and move on as soon as possible.
It seems like West Ham boss David Moyes has a chance to do exactly that, and if Emery really wants Kehrer, the Scot should drive the German up the M6 to Villa Park himself.
