David Moyes could give Thilo Kehrer a big chance to salvage his West Ham United career against Everton on Sunday.

West Ham play host to Everton this weekend and will be without the suspended Emerson Palmieri, so should Thilo Kehrer get a big chance to prove himself? I reckon so.

The 27-year-old has barely played this season, with just 18 Premier League minutes to his name (Transfermarkt), although he did recently suggest that an injury during pre-season and the early stages of the campaign played havoc with his hopes of establishing himself as a regular first-team player.

Hammers boss David Moyes has a big decision to make this weekend with Emerson suspended. I don’t want to see him select either Ben Johnson or Aaron Cresswell at left-back – they’re both liabilities.

Nayef Aguerd is another option, but his form has been extremely worrying of late. So maybe, just maybe, it could be Kehrer’s time to shine…

I strongly believe that the Germany international is the man who should come into the side in place of Emerson against Everton this weekend.

He has played as a left-back twice for West Ham, and eight times throughout his career (Transfermarkt), so it’s not like it is a completely alien position for him.

Kehrer’s West Ham career has been littered by mistakes and rash decisions but let’s have it right, you don’t get 27 caps for Germany if you’re not a good player.

The former Paris Saint-Germain ace has shown that he has the attributes needed to succeed in the Premier League, he just needs to fine tune his game a little bit.

In my view, Thilo Kehrer would definitely be a better option for West Ham than Cresswell or Johnson this weekend, and most probably Aguerd as well.

The 27-year-old is definitely better suited to playing at full-back than he is at centre-back.

And if the German is handed a start by Moyes against the Toffees, it will represent the defender with a huge chance to salvage his Hammers career.
