David Moyes was speaking about West Ham United star Mohammed Kudus during his pre-match press conference this afternoon.

West Ham boss David Moyes brought Mohammed Kudus to the London Stadium from Aajax in the summer for around £38 million (Sky Sports), and the Scot, his staff and the club’s owners have been really impressed by the impact the Ghanaian has made already.

The 23-year-old has already bagged six goals and an assist for the Hammers so far this season (Who Scored), and he is clearly a very special talent.

For Kudus to have slotted so seamlessly into a Premier League side having come over from the Eredivisie is no mean feat, and he deserves huge credit for adjusting to the physically robust and intense nature of English football.

The Ghana international has single-handedly dragged us through some difficult spells this season, none more so when he grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck 11 days ago against Burnley.

The sky’s the limit for Kudus – a sentiment echoed by Moyes today…

David Moyes makes Mohammed Kudus admission

The Hammers take on Tottenham in the Premier League tomorrow night, and Moyes addressed the media today ahead of that vital game.

When the subject turned to Kudus, Moyes made a really honest admission about the Ghanaian, as quoted by WHUFC.com:

“Mo has started great for us. He’s had an impact with his goals and assists, and I think his all-round play has been good. It will also improve as he gets more used to the Premier League and the intensity of the games. I’ve been hugely impressed how well he’s done. He’s probably started better than I would have anticipated. We eased him in during the first couple of games but since then we’ve found that he was scoring or making goals for us. Now he’s starting and doing much of the same, and we hope that continues.”

I’m not sure why Moyes didn’t expect him to be so good for us so quickly – he was on fire for Ajax over the past year or so before joining us.

The 23-year-old bagged 18 goals and eight assists in 42 games for Ajax last season, and notched up four goals and an assist in just three outings for the Dutch side this term before he joined the Hammers (Transfermarkt).

It was hardly a shock to us when Mohammed Kudus produced the goods immediately for West Ham was it!

However, it seems as though Kudus’s fine form has taken Moyes by surprise. At least the Scot has wised up quickly, and isn’t easing him in slowly anymore.
