David Moyes is under huge pressure to succeed in his role as West Ham United manager this season it seems.
West Ham appointed David Moyes as manager for the second time back in December 2019, and he has worked absolute wonders at the London Stadium.

The 60-year-old guided the Hammers to our first major trophy since 1980 last season, and we are now in our third consecutive European campaign.

Even the most ardent of ‘anti-Moyes’ West Ham fans surely have to accept that he deserves time now to build a team for the next few years.
However, the Hammers board obviously aren’t 100% sold on the Scot just yet. Moyes will be out of contract at the London Stadium next summer.
And as things stand, there are no discussions underway about a potential new deal for the 60-year-old…
David Moyes under real pressure to succeed at West Ham
The Scot has performed incredibly well in his role as West Ham manager, aside from the poor form in the Premier League last season.
Given our fine start to the 2023/24 campaign though, last term’s domestic form can be chalked up as an anomoly.
However, the board clearly aren’t 100% sold on Moyes just yet.
Fabrizio Romano has outlined how talks between the Hammers and Moyes regarding a new contract for the manager are still yet to begin:

“I’m absolutely not aware of any name being lined up to replace David Moyes despite there being no contract talks with West Ham, and I also think it wouldn’t be normal to have someone lined up nine months before. The Hammers are just taking things slowly, month by month. They’re calm and not in a rush. Moyes’ job has been very good so far but the club is changing. Tim Steidten joined as the new director this summer and is doing a great job, and it will take time to prepare for the future.”
Now, I’m not for one minute suggesting that Moyes is at risk of losing his job. Why would he be with West Ham flying in the league and in Europe?
However, it’s clear to see that if the Hammers start performing like we did last season in the league again, and are knocked out of Europe, the experienced Scot may well not be handed a new deal at the London Stadium.
I personally think that we’ll be just fine this season, and the 60-year-old deserves our full support after what he’s done for the club.
Much will depend on how ambitious the West Ham owners are. Do they want to usher in a new era of success in East London with a new and exciting brand of attacking football? Or do they give David Moyes the chance to do that with his own style? I think the Scot has earned the right to be handed the reins for at least a couple more seasons.
Romano’s claim clearly means that the West Ham owners are in no rush to make a decision on a potential new contract though.
