David Moyes made a truly baffling signing for West Ham this season, and he’s flogging a dead horse by continuing to play Danny Ings.
Danny Ings joined West Ham from Aston Villa in the January transfer window for around £12 million (Evening Standard).
David Moyes was desperate for more goals, so he went down the tried and tested route in the winter transfer window.

However, clearly no thought went into the transfer. Ings doesn’t suit Moyes’s system one little bit. He’s 30 as well, and has completely lost his legs.
Moyes bringing the striker to the London Stadium was the epitome of a panic signing. However, what makes it even worse is Moyes’s insistence on banging his head against a brick wall by continuing to play him as a lone striker.
It’s just utterly baffling on so many levels…
David Moyes is flogging a dead horse with Danny Ings
The 30-year-old forward is completely finished at Premier League level in my opinion.
That may sound harsh, but there is no room for sentiment at the very highest level of the game.
And let’s be honest here, Moyes isn’t helping him either. Ings is a striker who excels when playing up front with a partner.

However, every single time he plays for West Ham, he is isolated through the middle on his own.
Three goals in 21 games for the Hammers (Transfermarkt) tells its own story really doesn’t it.
The thing is, it’s not like the 30-year-old is a terrible player, because he’s most certainly not. He is just painfully unsuited to the current Hammers setup.
David Moyes is flogging a dead horse with Danny Ings by continuing to play the striker up front on his own. The Scot either needs to change his formation and system or sell him in the summer. It really is as simple as that.
