David Moyes is hoping to have one of his star men available for Brighton amid the Mohammed Kudus AFCON uncertainty.

Mohammed Kudus has been an absolute revelation at West Ham since joining from Ajax in the summer.

His £38m fee is starting to look like one of the best value deals for years as Kudus dazzles in almost every Hammers performance.

He was one of West Ham’s best players again in the 2-0 win at Arsenal.

That was expected to be his last game before heading off to join up with the Ghana squad for the African Cup of Nations.

There could be once last dance, though.

Ghana are one of the favourites to go deep in the Ivory Coast tournament. And that could mean no Kudus for the Hammers until mid-February.

But David Moyes is hoping to have his star man available for Brighton amid some Kudus AFCON uncertainty.

One last dance for Kudus ahead of AFCON?

Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of the January 2nd clash, Moyes says West Ham have still not heard when Kudus is expected to join up with Ghana, who are managed by former Hammer Chris Hughton.

And the Scot is hoping to squeeze one more game out of the hugely important star.

“I can’t give you an answer on that either, because we’ve got three or four players who are due to go to the African Nations and we’ve not had confirmation on any of them really on their join-up dates, which is incredibly strange that they’ve not come about,” Moyes said as reported on the club’s official website.

“You’d have thought they would be ready by now and we’re still waiting on that.

“Mo is a really important player, as he would be to any team so we’re hoping there is a chance he could be (available to face Brighton).”

It would be a major boost if Kudus is permitted to play one more game. Especially in light of the injury to Lucas Paqueta and given the positions of the two clubs in the Premier League table.

Bizarrely West Ham also stated they were waiting to hear whether Maxwel Cornet would be going to AFCON.

That’s despite Ivory Coast confirming their squad for the tournament last night with the West Ham winger left out.
