There has been a huge boost for West Ham over star Maxwel Cornet after an official Ivory Coast AFCON announcement.
West Ham may be celebrating a brilliant 2023 after the win over Arsenal.
But it came at a cost with David Moyes revealing both Kurt Zouma and Lucas Paqueta have suffered knee injuries.
Throw in the fact that Mohammed Kudus and Nayef Aguerd are now set to go to AFCON – possibly until mid-February and West Ham fans are understandably concerned going into the new year.

Huge boost for West Ham after official announcement
There were worries Moyes’ squad depth woes could be worsened with Said Benrahma and Maxwel Cornet possible African Cup of Nations call-ups for Algeria and Ivory Coast too.
Nearly two weeks ago we reported on Hammers News that Benrahma and Cornet were both highly unlikely to go to AFCON.
Well it’s one down and one to go in that regard.
Because there’s been a huge boost for West Ham over star Cornet after an official Ivory Coast AFCON announcement.
The Hammers winger has NOT been selected by the host nation for the tournament.

Cornet non-selection benefits Hammers two-fold
And that is beneficial to West Ham in more ways than one.
It means Cornet, who was on the bench at Arsenal, will now be available for West Ham just when they will need him most given Kudus’ absence and Paqueta’s injury.
He has also been linked with a move away in the January transfer window. So the fact he is not going to AFCON will also make it much easier to offload Cornet should Moyes wish to raise necessary funds to invest in a new signing.
Benrahma was named in Algeria’s mammoth 50-man initial squad last week. But it remains to be seen whether he makes the final cut – with news expect later on Friday.
Cornet’s non-selection, while a shame for the player, comes at a great time for West Ham – and could give the winger a chance to save his Hammers career.
