West Ham United manager David Moyes has opened up on what Kalvin Phillips is looking like in training.
David Moyes brought Kalvin Phillips to West Ham on loan from Manchester City in the January transfer window, but it has been a really tough start to life so far in East London for him.
The 28-year-old has looked well off the pace when playing for the Hammers, and it has been claimed that he’ll be left out of Gareth Southgate’s next England squad.
Phillips needs a bit of time to settle in – he hadn’t started a Premier League game since May before he joined us after all.
However, that in itself begs the question why on earth he was signed in the first place! That said, a fit Kalvin Phillips walks into our current midfield.
And it seems as though the 28-year-old is getting stronger in training with every week that passes…

David Moyes gives honest verdict on what Kalvin Phillips
The Hammers boss addressed the media during his pre-match press conference today.
And Moyes responded when asked to give an update on how Phillips is doing, as quoted by WHUFC.com:
“Kalvin is doing really well in training. I thought the sending off at Nottingham Forest was really close to being harsh.”
We need Phillips to get up to speed very quickly indeed, otherwise he will be a totally pointless signing for us.
We all know that the England international is a good player, and he’s capable of great things. Unfortunately for us, he hasn’t shown it yet for us.
David Moyes says Kalvin Phillips is looking good in training, so hopefully he’ll show us all what he’s all about very soon.
