David Moyes could be left with egg on his face with an ex West Ham United midfielder being eyed up for a big Premier League move in January.

West Ham United boss David Moyes allowed one of our most talented young players to leave the club back in January.

The Hammers sold Pierre Ekwah to Sunderland for a nominal fee 11 months ago, and the 21-year-old recently admitted that he has improved as a player since moving to the Stadium of Light due to more regular action.

Ekwah has really impressed with the Black Cats, and now Crystal Palace and Brentford are being linked with a move to sign him in the January window.

I kind of have the feeling that we gave up on the midfielder too soon – we definitely could have used him this season.

And if he moves on to a Premier League club this winter, Moyes will be left really regretting his decision to sell him…

If Ekwah ends up moving to one of our London rivals in January, and succeeds with them, Moyes will be made to look rather silly.

I firmly believe that the former Chelsea academy graduate will make it at the very highest level.

He looked really good for us during the 2022/23 pre-season campaign, and the same can be said for his form during the mid-season warm-up games after the World Cup break.

Not long after that though, he was bizarrely let go.

The young Frenchman possesses all of the qualities required to make it at the very highest level of the game, what with his ability on the ball, impressive physical attributes and top notch decision making.

It will be such a shame to see him go on and fulfil his potential with one of our main rivals rather than us.

And if Ekwah joins Fulham or Crystal Palace in January, West Ham boss David Moyes will undoubtedly be following his progress very closely indeed.

Nothing is guaranteed of course, but letting him go so cheaply already seems like a big mistake from the Hammers.
