West Ham beat Everton 3-1 in the Premier League this afternoon, and David Moyes spoke to reporters after the match.
David Moyes was visibly delighted with West Ham United’s 3-1 Premier League win over Everton today, and rightly so.
It was actually a fairly even game, and a draw probably would have been a fair result, but goals from Tomas Soucek and Edson Alvarez, after Kurt Zouma had bagged the equaliser, secured us the three points in the end.
Today’s win was a vital one for us, and it puts us right back into contention in the race to finish in sixth spot this season.
With a trip to Freiburg in the Europa League and a home game against Burnley in the Premier League up next, everything is looking really positive for us once again. But what did Moyes think of the game?
David Moyes praises West Ham star after Everton win
Moyes was clearly very impressed indeed by the performance of Alphonse Areola.
The West Ham boss told WHUFC.com:
“Alphonse’s goalkeeping and his saves have been great. You could hear the crowd here chanting his name here today and quite rightly so. He deserves all the plaudits he’s been given. He played brilliantly well, saved a good penalty kick and we move onto European football again in midweek with a bit of confidence again.”
The 30-year-old was simply superb today. He saved a penalty kick from Everton’s Beto, and commanded his penalty area with a real air of composure and authority all throughout the game.
The Frenchman made save after save after save in the second-half, and we definitely wouldn’t have won that game without him today.
David Moyes should be very grateful that he has Alphonse Areola at West Ham after that wonderful performance against Everton today. In truth though, he’s been fantastic for us all season long. Well done Phonse!
