West Ham United co-owner David Gold has agreed with Angelo Ogbonna about the club’s fans.
West Ham supporters showed why they are amongst the best in the country by packing out away ends on long trips north to Man United and Leeds just three days apart.
After thousands also travelled out to Croatia to cheer West Ham on to a 2-0 win in the Europa League the week before, it is clear that supporters really do follow the West Ham over land and sea.

And at the moment it is very much ‘off to victory’ too.
The manner of West Ham’s win at Leeds made things all the more exciting. Coming from behind to win in the last minute with a superb team goal that said so much about David Moyes’s side and their attitude.
The celebration from the West Ham fans said it all with some supporters spilling onto the Elland Road pitch.
After the game West Ham defensive rock Angelo Ogbonna praised the club’s fans (whufc.com).

“The crowd here is always unbelievable, but I think our fans today were another man on the pitch,” Ogbonna said without a hint of irony over how literal that was (whufc.com).
“They pushed us on and that’s why we scored in the last minute to get what we deserved.”
And now co-owner Gold has concurred with Ogbonna’s assessment of the West Ham fans in a message on Twitter.

“Angelo Ogbonna: “I think our fans were another man on the pitch.” Agreed dg,” Gold said on Twitter.
It’s about time West Ham fans started getting some credit.
Some pundits and journalists churlishly stated that West Ham enjoyed a record breaking season last term BECAUSE the fans were not there to get on the team’s back.
Where are those laughable claims now?

West Ham are among the most fiercely loyal and passionate supporters in the country.
Starved of any success for over 40 years, West Ham have boasted one of the highest attendances in Europe either side of the pandemic.
West Ham have the second most season ticket holders in the Premier League behind only Manchester United. And Hammers fans sell out their allocation for every away game too.
West Ham are a cult club with a cult following.
And the fans deserve every bit of success the team is enjoying right now.
