Celtic could become an option for David Moyes if he leaves West Ham amid unrest at both clubs and among both sets of supporters.

David Moyes is reportedly fighting for his future as West Ham manager.

And Brendan Rodgers is in a similar situation at Celtic.

Moyes was allegedly given four games to save his job with the Hammers.

But the first of those ended in a 2-0 defeat at Nottingham Forest. And some travelling West Ham fans unfurled banners and held aloft signs saying ‘Moyes Out’.

Celtic could become an option for Moyes amid unrest

Meanwhile at Moyes’ boyhood club Celtic, who he represented as a player, there is also unrest between fans and the manager.

Many Celtic supporters were against the re-appointment of Rodgers after he left them for Leicester.

So it is doing his standing among fans no favours that Celtic have surrendered their lead at the top of the table to bitter rivals Rangers.

Supporters, journalists and former players have been lambasting Rodgers. And rumours have abound he could leave Celtic at the end of the season.

So Celtic could become an option for Moyes if he leaves West Ham amid unrest. And a viable one at that.

Timing has never been right for Moyes and Bhoys

Moyes has been linked with the Bhoys in the past. But the timing has never been right.

If his contract is not renewed at West Ham and Rodgers does depart, though, it will perhaps never be better.

Moyes was actually linked with Celtic – not for the first time – as Ange Postecoglou’s replacement when he was lured to the Premier League by Spurs.

Moyes showed he truly gets Celtic when he delivered a put down to journalists in the summer.

The Scot was asked whether he had any advice for Postecoglou about the pressure he would face on joining Spurs.

Biggest job Moyes could hope for outside of West Ham

“He will never get more pressure than he did managing Celtic Football Club,’ said Moyes, who played for the Bhoys early in his career.

“Celtic Football Club are probably the third or fourth best supported club in the world, and if you manage Celtic Football Club you are used to pressure,” Moyes said.

“So he will have no problem.”

If Moyes’ excellent body of work at West Ham is to end this season then he is highly unlikely to find a bigger club in England wanting his services.

So what better job for him to walk into than finally leading the Scottish giants he’s supported all his life?

And given his recent European pedigree with the Hammers, he could be just the man Celtic need.
