A board confidant has made a David Moyes sack claim as the lid is lifted on what it will take for the West Ham boss to be dismissed.

If West Ham were still riding the crest of the wave of their European glory back in June, it came crashing back down to earth today.

Three defeats in a week to Aston Villa, Olympiacos and Everton have come as a rude awakening after a positive start to the new season for the Hammers.

After lifting the Europa Conference League in Prague – West Ham’s first major trophy for 43 years – coupled with the decent start to the season, David Moyes looked to have fully turned things around after the dark days of the Premier League struggles last term.

The Scot was left clinging on to his job by his fingernails on more than one occasion last term.

Three consecutive defeats have brought back memories of those days as West Ham were jeered off by fans.

Audible fan discontent will only serve to see the manager called into question – as it would at any club.

Now a board confidant has made a Moyes sack claim as the lid is lifted on what it will take for the West Ham boss to be dismissed.

‘Six loss rule in play for Moyes’

And he says Moyes could find himself out of a job if the Hammers lose the next three games.

Whetstone claims the ‘six loss rule is in play’ at West Ham regarding Moyes’ future. Although it could be extended to seven or eight.

“Six loss rule in play,” Whetstone said.

“If we lose against Arsenal, Olympiacos and Brentford David Moyes could be gone although most likely to get Notts Forest and Burnley too to stop the loss rot but no manager can survive a long run of defeats in a row.”
