Maxwel Cornet was bizzarley omitted from the West Ham United squad for last night’s clash with Tottenham.
West Ham winger Maxwel Cornet joined the club from Burnley in the summer of 2022, but he has failed to make any kind of impact whatsoever so far at the London Stadium.

The Hammers attacker has barely played this season, and received the ultimate slap in the face when David Moyes ignored him when name-checking players who are set to head out to AFCON at the end of this month.
Cornet’s injury last year – one that kept him out from October until March – obviously wreaked havoc with his development and ability to settle in to life at West Ham.
The Ivory Coast international did show real promise last week in the Europa League with an assist that won us the game against TSC Backa Topola.
However, he hasn’t played a single minute since then. Baffling right? Even worse for Maxi, he wasn’t included at all in the squad last night. But why was he left out entirely?
Maxwel Cornet mystery cleared up by West Ham reporter
Sean Whetstone – a reporter with close links to David Sullivan – took to Twitter last night to clear up exactly why Cornet wasn’t in the squad.
And the Hammers insider suggested that the Ivorian was not injured for the Spurs clash last night, nor was he ill:
Wow, that is quite the statement from Moyes, and a real hammer blow for the former Burnley man at the same time.
Maxwel Cornet surely realises that his time at West Ham will be coming to an end next month – Moyes tried to shift him on in the summer after all.
His omission last night would have been a very clear message to him that he’s not fancied one little bit by the Hammers boss.
I really feel for Cornet. He surely deserves more chances than he has been getting over the past few months. However, we don’t know what’s going on behind closed doors do we.
Perhaps it will be best for all parties involved if Cornet is moved on in January.
