beIN Sports technology has proved whether the controversial West Ham goal in the 2-0 win at Arsenal should have stood.

West Ham brought the curtain down on 2023 with a magnificent 2-0 win over Arsenal in the Premier League on Thursday night.

While West Ham were given plenty of plaudits for their performance, much of the talk since has centered around Tomas Soucek’s opener.

Jarrod Bowen cut the ball back for the big Czech midfielder to open the scoring on 13 minutes at the Emirates.

But there was a lengthy VAR check as Arsenal appealed that the ball had gone out of play before Bowen’s touch.

Tech proves whether West Ham goal should have stood

The West Ham forward’s leg obstructed the best camera angle for the decision. So without conclusive evidence to suggest the ball had definitely gone out of play, the on-field decision to award the goal stood.

Much to the anger of Arsenal fans and delight of the Hammers.

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta has called for the video tech to be improved after a similar incident involving Arsenal up at Newcastle.

Now beIN Sports technology has proved whether the West Ham goal vs Arsenal should have stood.

Using the broadcaster’s innovative technology, Richard Keys and Andy Gray have showed the goal was RIGHT to stand.

Keys and Gray both said they felt the ball was ‘more out than in’ to the naked eye.

‘They’re in the clear’

But they conceded the tech has proved them – and many Arsenal fans – wrong.

“We can now definitively give you the answer which will make one of these two teams a little bit more comfortable about what happened than the other,” Keys said.

“These days we do work to the nth degree don’t we? And that much of the ball was in,” Keys adds pointing to the screen showing a small portion of the ball was on the line.

“So Arsenal can feel a little bit better about what happened and West Ham absolutely delighted, they’re in the clear, it was in.”
