The Hammers have since been linked with another move to sign the six-capped Belgium international this summer (TEAMtalk).
Onana would be an unbelievably good upgrade on Tomas Soucek at the London Stadium. He is equally as tall, if not taller and has far superior technical ability on the ball. The Toffees ace has far more pace and power than the Czech midfielder as well.
However, it seems as though Chelsea could scupper Moyes’s plan this summer…
Bad news for West Ham as Chelsea enter negotiations to sign Everton ace Amadou Onana
After the Toffees’ struggles last season, it seems as though the powerhouse midfielder could be set to leave Goodison Park.
According to Sacha Tavolieri, Chelsea are in talks to sign Onana from Everton for around £55 million this summer:
Onana is a really special talent. He has been described by Sport Magazine as a ‘sensational’ young player. Meanwhile, he’s been labelled as an ‘incredible’ player by Total Football Analysis.
West Ham should have pushed so much harder to sign him last summer, rather than pull out of the deal because of his demands. Sometimes you just have to pay the going rate for top-class players, regardless of their age.
He is an elite player who will only continue to get better and better with every year that passes for the next decade or so.
And Chelsea signing Amadou Onana this summer would really rub salt into the wounds of Hammers boss David Moyes.
