An astonishing revelation about West Ham and Real Madrid should spark a January transfer push to strike while the Irons are hot.

The January transfer window will soon be upon us and West Ham need one or two quality signings in key areas.

If the Hammers can get a striker and full-backs in the door they are perfectly positioned to push for glory in at least three competitions.

Beat Crystal Palace at home on Sunday and West Ham could be just one win off fifth spot in the Premier League. That will be rewarded with Champions League qualification this season.

The Hammers are in the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup, although face a tough task making the semis with a clash against Liverpool at Anfield just before Christmas.

David Moyes’ men will also kick off their FA Cup campaign in the new year.

And last night’s 1-0 win at Backa Topola saw West Ham remain top of Europa League Group A – knowing a draw against Freiburg will seal a place in the last 16 and a more favourable draw.

Attracting some quality signings in January will mean West Ham can seriously gun for glory again this season.

Players want to play for successful sides, especially those who are competitive in Europe.

And an astonishing revelation about West Ham and Real Madrid should spark a January transfer push to strike while the Irons are hot.

West Ham recently made history by setting a new English record for the most games unbeaten in European competition – 18.

That was soon matched by Man City.

But now West Ham stand alone with the mighty Real Madrid after last night’s win in Serbia.

Because since the beginning of the 2021/22 season, no side have won more games in major European competitions than West Ham United’s 22 – level with Real Madrid.

It is quite simply an incredible statistic and one to be proud of for the Hammers. Especially as two of the three European campaigns in that time have been in the fiercely competitive Europa League.

West Ham will be massively missing a trick if they do not use this as a selling point when going into the market for signings in January.

The club cannot continue to make it up as they go along when it comes to the forward line.

West Ham need a top young striker and full-backs. And they need to use their new Unique Selling Point as being a serious European outfit to get them.

Now is the perfect time to push the boat out with the club so well placed. Especially with Tim Steidten heading up transfers.
