As Brazilian media make a huge Lucas Paqueta claim, his West Ham United struggles make absolutely no sense.

David Moyes brought Lucas Paqueta to West Ham United in the summer transfer window from Lyon for around £51 million.

As things stand though, the 25-year-old Brazil international has in no way justified his big money move to West Ham.

Paqueta has failed to make any kind of impact whatsoever at the London Stadium so far, and certainly hasn’t lived up to the hype that surrounded him when he swapped France for England.

Sure, he still needs time to settle in with the Hammers but in order to get the best out of Paqueta, Moyes undoubtedly needs to introduce a more free-flowing playing style.

However, it must be said that the onus is on the former Lyon man to produce the goods off his own back…

As Brazilian media make huge Lucas Paqueta claim, West Ham struggles make no sense

Brazilian publication Flamengo RJ has been covering the current state of the Brazil national team ahead of their clash with Morocco tomorrow.

And they suggest that there are two players who are fundamental to The Seleção – Vinicius Junior of Real Madrid and West Ham United’s Lucas Paqueta.

That really is quite a bold claim, considering how many incredibly talented players Brazil have at their disposal.

The big take from this claim though is what on earth has gone wrong for Paqueta at West Ham?

Well for one, the playing style implemented by Moyes has done the 25-year-old absolutely no favours whatsoever.

There are also question marks as to whether the Scot knows how which position the former Lyon man is best suited to and is unable to get the best out of him.

In spite of all of that, Paqueta’s struggles with West Ham still make absolutely no sense to me. If he is as good as some people are saying he is, then surely he’s capable of influencing games more for the Hammers than he has been doing.

In my opinion, the Brazilian has escaped from criticism far too easily from the Hammers fans this season. It’s time for Lucas Paqueta to take on some real responsibility and help fire West Ham up the table.

Because according to those in the know, he is one of the very best players in world football. It’s about time we start seeing that when he’s in a Hammers shirt.
