Hammers star Angelo Ogbonna believes colossal new £29 million teammate Kurt Zouma can help West Ham United do something big.
David Moyes bided his time to get his prime target when he signed Zouma from Chelsea in the summer.
And the Frenchman has been a revelation for West Ham since.
So much so, Chelsea fans have questioned their club’s decision to sell him to the Hammers.
West Ham were deserved winners at Everton on Sunday.
The Hammers didn’t quite click as an attacking force and were wasteful in the final third.
So it was down to defender Ogbonna to step up and deliver the winning goal, heading home Jarrod Bowen’s wicked corner.
Ogbonna was key to West Ham’s win at the other end too but his defensive partner Zouma stole the show with another colossal performance.
And Ogbonna clearly agrees, telling West Ham’s official website that the £29m man can help the Hammers ‘do something important’.
“Kurt’s brought a lot of experience,” Ogbonna said on whufc.com.
“He knows the game and we know that we can improve more and more every time, because it’s not easy.
“If you want to do something important, I think he’s someone who can give us something positive and bring us a little bit of European experience and Premier League experience.”
And Ogbonna also believes it is only a matter of time before ‘unbelievable’ Zouma gets his first West Ham goal.
“I think we are one of the teams who are really going to be a big threat from set pieces with me, with Kurt, with Tomas, with whoever is going to play,” Ogbonna added.
“I hope my goal can open other goals in the season, because we’re still waiting for Tomas’ goals, Kurt’s goals… the way he jumps is unbelievable, so I think this is the good way.”
